Shrewsbury Town’s Tom Bradshaw to make comeback at Wolves?
Saturday 13th August 2011, 3:28PM BST.
Young Shrewsbury Town striker Tom Bradshaw could take the first steps on the comeback trail with a reserves outing against Wolves on Wednesday.
Bradshaw has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in a pre-season friendly – ironically against a Wolves Development XI.
But he has made rapid progress in his rehabilitation work and Turner believes he could be ready to feature for Shrewsbury’s second string.
Town’s reserves no longer play in a league, with Turner opting to arrange friendlies as and when he sees fit – and Wednesday’s clash with Wolves is the first of those.
“Tom Bradshaw is the only player we’ve got carrying any injury at the moment,” said Turner.
“But he’s making good progress and could feature in the Wolves game next week, though we will have to check how he is nearer the time.”
The game could also give left-back Joe Jacobson a chance to improve his match sharpness, having had to sit out the start of the season while serving a three-match ban.
Jacobson, a summer signing from Accrington Stanley, was sent off while playing for the Lancashire club in their play-off semi-final defeat to Stevenage last season.
In his absense, Aussie defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff has moved from the centre to cover on the left side of the back four.
“Joe could play part of the game against Wolves as well,” Turner confirmed.
