Shrewsbury Town agree deal for new striker Gornell
Friday 5th August 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Shrewsbury Town have finally reached an agreement with League Two rivals Accrington Stanley over the transfer of striker Terry Gornell.
The 21-year-old agreed a move to Shrewsbury at the start of last month but, because of the player’s age, Shrewsbury had to pay a fee for the out-of-contract forward.
It had seemed likely that the matter would be settled at a tribunal but the two clubs agreed on an undisclosed fee yesterday afternoon.
“We’re very pleased to have reached an agreement,” said Stanley’s chief executive Rob Heys.
“We must thank our president Peter Marsden and also Shrewsbury Town for their hard work in agreeing a deal.”
Stanley still have two similar transfers to be resolved – including the departure of former Shrewsbury midfielder Jimmy Ryan to Scunthorpe United.
