Frustrated Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner has admitted last night’s 2-0 home reverse to Tranmere Rovers has left him with more questions than answers ahead of the League Two big kick-off.

The Town chief watched his side slump to a disappointing defeat in their final pre-season fixture before the opening day match with Plymouth a week today.

And Turner said the below par performance has given him plenty to ponder over the next seven days.

He said: “It’s a head-scratching time as to know why we have thrown in a performance like that on such a key period of our pre-season but that’s something we’ve got to address and put right.

“There are a few organisational things we need to take care of. We’ve got a week to work on things and make sure we don’t throw in a performance like that against Plymouth.”

The Town boss added that he hoped the defeat would now act as a wake-up call to his squad.

“Sometimes a result like that can wake everybody up,” said Turner.
