Shrewsbury fans to get first sight of Terry Gornell
Friday 22nd July 2011, 3:29PM BST.
Shrewsbury Town fans will get their first glimpse of new striker Terry Gornell when they face a Wolves XI in a pre-season friendly tonight at the Greenhous Meadow (7.30pm).
Gornell has arrived from Accrington Stanley, though the two clubs are still negotiating over a fee for the player.
The 21-year-old missed Town’s 2-1 win against a Manchester United XI last Sunday due to a niggling ankle injury, but he’s ready to come into the squad against a development side from Molineux.
“Terry is now fit and he should have a part to play against Wolves tonight and a little bit more away against Kidderminster on Tuesday next week,” said manager Graham Turner.
“We have great competition for places up front – I think we need four good strikers going into the season – and I do believe I’ve got that in Marvin Morgan, James Collins, Tom Bradshaw and Terry. We’re very strong up there, we have some nice combinations and good mobility.
Turner will also take a second look at trialist right-back Carl Regan tonight, while a mystery midfielder is also likely to come under the spotlight.
Wolves’ side will be a developmental squad of young players although new goalkeeper Dorus De Vries, signed from Swansea in the summer, is due to make his first appearance for the club.
