The Shrewsbury Town future of teenage wing ace Jon Taylor could be resolved this week.

Taylor, who scored six times after breaking into the first team in January, and his agent Rob Shield are set for talks with Town boss Graham Turner.

The 18-year-old is mulling over a two-year offer to remain at the club where he made such an impression last season, with Turner remaining optimistic of the Scouse youngster committing his future to Town.

“We are meeting with Graham on Wednesday so we will have a chat and see where we are,” said Taylor’s representative Shield, who said his player has attracted some interest from north of the border and an enquiry from a Championship club who will “monitor his progress.”

Asked whether he expected Taylor to be a Shrewsbury player next season, Shield added: “I don’t see why not.

“Jon really enjoyed it at Shrewsbury last season so hopefully we can get something resolved with Graham and the club.”

Steve Leslie is the other existing Town player who is expected to deliver a verdict on his contract offer in the next week.

Meanwhile, Turner continues his efforts to bolster his squad with up to five new signings.

Accrington defensive duo Joe Jacobson and Dean Winnard are amongst the players linked with a move to the Greenhous Meadow.
