Graham Turner plots Shrewsbury Town recovery
Monday 16th May 2011, 4:04PM BST.
Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner today set about masterminding a play-off recovery mission.
Town must defeat Torquay by two clear goals at the Greenhous Meadow to take the League Two play-off semi-final into extra-time, and by three or more goals to seal a passage to the Old Trafford final at the end of normal time.
But Turner is encouraged by his side’s recent home form which has brought three victories from the last four games.
“I would have settled for a two goal lead (as the home side) but there is that chain of thought that if we can get a goal back, it could put them on edge,” said Turner.
“It’s a far bigger pitch at home and we have done quite well there of late.
“We have to build players’ confidence up from early in the week and make sure we get them right.
“There have been cases of sides pulling two goals back in the second leg – we have got home advantage and we have to have the belief we can do it.”
