Shrewsbury Town 3 Oxford 0
Saturday 7th May 2011, 4:58PM BST.
Shrewsbury Town are facing a third League Two play-off campaign in five years – despite a final day victory over Oxford.
Town ran out 3-0 winners but were pipped to third spot by Wycombe, who defeated Southend 3-1 at Adams Park.
Mark Wright, David Davis and Lionel Ainsworth scored second half goals in front of a record Greenhous Meadow crowd of 8,817 but Shrewsbury fell one point short of automatic promotion.
The final day outcome is sure to frustrate Shrewsbury, with Wycombe awarded a goal that didn’t cross the line when the two teams drew 1-1 at the Greenhous Meadow in March.
