Shrewsbury Town’s young wing wizard Jon Taylor today admitted he is living the dream after a whirlwind 12 months catapulted him into the heat of a promotion battle.

Just a year ago Taylor was plying his trade at youth team level, but he is now established as a regular fixture in the Town line-up.

And with League Two promotion a real possibility heading into the final four games of the season, the former Wigan trainee is eyeing a fairytale end to his first season in senior football.

“A year ago I would not even have thought I would be in this position,” said the 18-year-old, who remains keen to extend his stay with Shrewsbury when his current deal expires in the summer.

“To be in a team fighting for promotion and all the excitement that goes with that is unbelievable and I’m loving every single minute of it.

“We have got four games left and we just have to work our socks off and give 110 per cent.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Nicky Wroe has set his sights on a six point return from this weekend’s big Easter double header.

Town head to Hereford on Saturday (1pm) before playing host to Accrington Stanley 50 hours later.

“We have got a big weekend coming up and we have to come out all guns blazing,” said the former Torquay man.

“We are very confident and looking for six points from the two games. I have not come here just to stay in this League — we are all desperate to get promotion.”

Shrewsbury’s reserve team home clash with Tranmere, which was scheduled for tonight, has been put back until tomorrow afternoon at 2pm.
