Matt Harrold calls for Shrewsbury Town consistency
Tuesday 12th April 2011, 11:40AM BST.
Target man Matt Harrold has urged Shrewsbury Town to cut out the blips as they battle to get over the League Two promotion line.
Town have lost just three of their last 14 League Two games in a run dating back to the start of February, but have been well beaten on each occasion – going down 3-0 to Bury and Aldershot on Saturday and 5-0 to Torquay.
And Harrold, who was promoted from League Two with Wycombe three seasons ago, knows consistency will be the key during the tense run-in.
“At the moment, we keep putting together great little runs and then it comes to a halt,” said Harrold.
“We want to put a run together for the five massive games we have left.
“We are all looking forward to the games and handling the pressure and everything that comes with it at this stage of the season.
“We had a chat after the Aldershot game on Saturday and again yesterday and we have to move on now.
“It was a bad day at the office and we need to put it behind us.”
Harrold remains convinced Town can secure promotion to League One without the need for the play-offs.
“I have got a lot of faith in everyone in the changing room and I think that goes for all the lads,” added the 26-year-old.
“We have some very good players sitting on the bench, and some not even getting in the squad.
“We have also got a great team spirit and that can get you a long way at this stage of the season.”
The gap between Shrewsbury and the automatic promotion places will open to three points tonight should Bury register a home victory over lowly Burton in their game in hand.
