Young striker Tom Bradshaw has handed Shrewsbury Town an injury scare ahead of Saturday’s trip to Aldershot by limping out of training with a knee injury.

Bradshaw, who came off the bench to inspire a come-from-behind 2-1 League Two victory at Bradford last month, has gone on to play a big part in the two further wins since then.

But he now faces a race against time to be fit for the trip to the Recreation Ground – though promotion-chasing Shrewsbury have at least been boosted by the easing of the sickness bug that affected several players.

“The bug has disappeared but Tom limped out of training yesterday morning with a little bit of a problem with his knee,” said boss Graham Turner.

“It was a little bit of a cautious approach taking him out – he’s got a few days to recover so I expect him to be fit by Saturday but there’s just that little bit of a doubt about him.”

Turner is also continuing to keep tabs on Wolves midfielder Nathan Rooney, who has been told he will not be handed a new contract at Molineux.

Rooney spent time training with Town and Turner is monitoring the Telford-born youngster closely.

“He played for Wolves reserves at Blackpool last week,” said Turner. “I went to watch their reserves on Tuesday night but unfortunately he was on the bench and didn’t get on.

“But he’s not been ruled out – he’s got a lot going for him so we’ll continue having a look if we can.”

Meanwhile, Town striker James Collins has been shortlisted for the League Two player of the month award for March.

Collins is up against Craig Davies of Chesterfield, Gillingham’s Cody McDonald and Mark Roberts of Stevenage. The winner will be announced on Sky Sports News on Friday morning.

Town’s reserves face Wrexham tonight away at Airbus’s Airfield ground (7pm). Town team: Chris Neal, Jermaine Grandison, Connor Goldson, Harry Hooman, Kelvin Lomax, Sean McAllister, Ryan Woods, Craig Disley, Kevin McIntyre, Kane Cork, Nathan Elder
