Shrewsbury Town hero Tom Bradshaw today reflected on his dramatic impact at Bradford by declaring: “They’re my most important goals so far.”

Bradshaw struck twice in a 15 minute substitute outing at Valley Parade to turn a 1-0 deficit into a critical 2-1 victory.

The success left Shrewsbury in fifth place in League Two and they are now only two points adrift of the third automatic promotion place with eight games remaining.

And Welsh under-21 striker Bradshaw was thrilled to play a major part in turning Saturday’s game on its head.

“I’ve been itching to get on and make an impact,” said Bradshaw, whose double strike represented his first goals since December.

“I went through a spell where I didn’t score but I’ve always been confident I’ve got goals in me.

“The two goals I got last season at Crewe were special because they were my first goals.

“But they weren’t as important as these – the two on Saturday were the first match-changing goals I have scored.”

Bradshaw levelled the scores with a rocket shot from a tight angle, before his winner came after fine play from fellow 18-year-old Jon Taylor.

“I played with Jon all last year in the youth team and it was great vision from him to look up and knock it back for an easy tap in,” added Bradshaw.,

“Me and Jon were at Walford College (Shrewsbury’s youth team base) together all last year so I saw a lot of him.

“He knows where I want the ball and I know where he wants the ball so it’s a good partnership.”

Town’s attention was today turning to tomorrow night’s return to Yorkshire for a vital clash against fellow promotion hopefuls Rotherham. And boss Graham Turner believes Saturday’s victory has handed his side momentum.

“It was a massive three points for us and it sets us up nicely for Tuesday night,” said the Town boss.

“That’s our eighth away win and that shows the character that we have got in the side.”
