Early Shrewsbury Town season ticket rush
Saturday 26th March 2011, 11:30AM GMT.
Shrewsbury Town’s season ticket sales for the 2011-12 campaign have got off to a flying start.
More than 720 tickets have already been sold for next season – despite uncertainty Town will be plying their trade in League One or Two.
And club officials are anticipating a fresh surge this week, with the deadline for early bird prices for existing season ticket holders approaching.
Supporters must purchase their tickets before Friday to benefit from the discount.
“We are really pleased with how they are progressing,” said operations and commercial manager Ian Bebbington.
“We are ahead of the same stage last year and trade is brisk. I think supporters can see the club is developing and want to be a part of it.”
New applications for season tickets will be accepted from next Friday.
Meanwhile, boss Graham Turner has confirmed that former young Wolves midfielder Nathan Rooney is training at Shrewsbury.
“I have seen Nathan play for Wolves reserves a couple of times recently – against Arsenal when he had an outstanding game and against Manchester United where he also gave a very good performance,” said Turner.
“I think it has been indicated he has got no future at Wolves.
“It has given us an opportunity for us to have him for a couple of weeks and assess him – he has done okay.”
Turner has also revealed that a late change of heart from Scunthorpe meant he failed in a transfer deadline week loan bid for striker Bobby Grant.
