Boss Graham Turner will attempt to strengthen his Shrewsbury Town pack ahead of the final push for promotion.

The last chance for Football League clubs to bolster their squads before the end of the season arrives at 5pm on Thursday with the loan deadline.

And Turner has not ruled out bringing in a new face or two ahead of his side’s final nine games of the season.

“The deadline is coming up and, if we can, we will try and do something,” said the Town boss, who refused to divulge which specific areas he will look to strengthen.

Turner’s desire to bolster his ranks is likely to be influenced by one of the tightest promotion races in recent years.

Just 10 points separate 12 teams from Bury in second to Southend in 12th, and Town could fall three places from fourth to seventh tonight should Torquay, Port Vale and Stevenage all defeat Cheltenham, Hereford and Burton respectively.

Meanwhile, Turner admits his frustration at Wycombe’s ‘goal that never was’ being awarded in Saturday’s 1-1 draw hasn’t eased.

Gareth Ainsworth’s crucial equaliser was allowed to stand despite the ball clearly not crossing the line.

“When you see the photos and the other evidence the linesman could not have possibly seen it from where he was,” added the Town boss.

“He has given it on what he thinks has happened rather than what he has seen.,

“We were also disappointed that the ref didn’t go over and establish beyond doubt that the linesman had no doubts the ball had crossed the line.

“We have requested feedback on several incidents from the referee’s department so we will see what comes back.”

But Turner has now urged his players to focus on the future rather than dwell on the past.

“We feel aggrieved but the record books show that we drew 1-1 and we have got nine games left,” he added.

“We have to go to Bradford on Saturday and show the same determination as we did on Saturday and the same quality we did in the second half.”

graham turner may strengthen the team as much as he likes, but the shrews will never and have never won anything with that lenny the lion badge. when the club restores the original badge with 3 loggerheads and a floreat salopia town will be going places.
graham old son until then or the twelth of never you labour in vain. good luck town on saturday. pity about the badge on your shirts.
i blame an uncaring unfeeling intransigent board of directors for ensuring town go season after season without winning anything. you have excellent sponsors the best manager and rubbish badge.
