Roar Shrewsbury Town on against Wycombe, says Graham Turner

Graham Turner today urged Shrewsbury Town’s supporters to roar their side to promotion – starting with tomorrow’s crunch encounter with Wycombe.
Town begin their 10 game run-in with the visit of a Wycombe side currently lying in the third automatic spot.
Victory at the Greenhous Meadow will see Town move within one point of the top three, and Turner has stressed the vital role fans can play during the tense closing weeks of the season.
“The supporters have got a massively important part to play,” said the experienced Town chief.
“Some of them would have travelled down to Torquay last week and seen a below-par performance.
“But the chances are quite a few of those will also have seen the excellent display at Lincoln.
“Everyone has the desire to get promoted and the fans can be a big help, especially to the younger players.”
While the stakes are clearly high in tomorrow’s game, Turner is keen not to place extra players on his squad as they aim to produce the perfect response to last week’s shock 5-0 defeat at Torquay.
“Promotion will not be won or lost tomorrow,” he added.
“It’s an important game but there are still 10 to go and that’s nearly a quarter of the season. What we have got to do is try and take the pressure out of the situation for players.
“Everybody realises how important the game is but we have to try and make sure the players don’t get too uptight, particularly in the wake of last week.”
Turner will be forced into at least one change in his starting line-up, with right back Jermaine Grandison beginning a three match ban for his red card at Plainmoor.
David Raven and Kelvin Lomax are both vying for that position while the Town boss must decide whether to recall striker Matt Harrold, now fully recovered from his bout of tonsillitis, for the visit of his former club.

I’m sure there are a fair few hundred fans that would love to turn up and roar Shrewsbury on…..if only the Club would do something to entice them in.
I have been twice with friends this season and each time had no value for money. When are town going to give something back to the fans and lower the price of admission, only if its for a few games a season.
Its ok charging £16-18 a game when your a decent side, not one thats getting battered 3-0 at home to Bury and 5-0 to torquay/shrewsbury reserves.

Ten games left this season, a massive season in terms of expectations and this isn’t some pie in the sky level of expectation it’s what this club should be capable of, we have a manager that has brought success to every club he’s been at, but it’s a lot more than that it’s very much about the real fans now.
With ten games we should put all our niggles aside bite the bullet and get on with getting down to the ground and infact to as many of the remaining away games too.
This is a game, a sport but it’s also a job to all the Shrews players and support in your workplace makes a massive difference to performance. Low moral only breeds misery to the players and amongst the crowd, so put all our gripes away, sing the Shrews to promotion and be a loyal supporter…..I can hear “land of hope and glory” playing in the stands right now!
