Shrewsbury Town’s flying form could lead to a bumper crowd for tomorrow’s League Two clash with Stevanage.

Club officials are confident of breaking the 5,500 barrier as Town go in search of a fourth consecutive victory.

Tuesday night’s five-star show at Lincoln has whetted the appetite of Town’s fans with ticket office manager Sean Evans revealing trade had been busy ahead of the fixture.

He said: “It’s been very busy and we are expecting a crowd of over 5,500 and perhaps more depending on how many come up from Stevenage.

“A lot of people will have seen the result on Tuesday at Lincoln and hopefully will come in here with a positive mindset and we will be able to create a good atmosphere.

“The advantage of having the England game here was that a lot of young children who were visiting the ground for the first time this season might think they want to come back again.

“That was certainly something we are hoping for – we had a good gate for that game so hopefully we will see the benefit tomorrow.”

Boss Graham Turner is likely to keep faith with the same starting XI from Tuesday night despite the return of James Collins from international duty with the Republic of Ireland under-21s.

He said: “I think it’s the obvious answer. You have a 5-1 win and the boy you bring on up front scores a hat-trick so it’s the obvious thing to do.” And the Town chief is confident that the recent run of form can lead to more impressive performances on the pitch.

“If we can take the three points from this game it will extend our sequence of four consecutive wins. I sense there is a mood change over the last few games,” he said.

“There seems to be a freshness about them and a determination. We go into the game full of confidence. There’s no reason to suppose when we come against the rivals at the top of the table that we can’t get results against them as well.

“We started the season very well, we lost our way in the recent period after the freeze and it looks like were getting back into our stride.”

Town remain without David Raven, Nathan Elder, Benjamin van den Broek and Tom Bradshaw through injury.

I’m not usually one for statistics however, there is one startling one that stands out so far this season.

It’s the fact that there’s only been 3 league games this season that we’ve let in more than one goal, on the surface of this fact it might not mean much however it does mean that our defense has been incredibly mean at letting the opposition past us more than once in a match.

If the players remember this going into matches it can do wonders for confidence, add to this a sensible target of 2 goals per match to score.

Of course we’ve now started to do just that and more, it’s really just to make the point that the dividing line between drawing and winning a match has been incredibly thin all season.

This more than anything is the reason why i now think we have a team that will often score 2 goals in any match. The strong defense that we have should ensure that 2 goals is more than enough to win most matches and win promotion.
