Shrewsbury Town aim to end one of English football’s current hottest streaks tonight – and move back into League Two’s automatic promotion berths.

Town go bidding for their third successive victory when they make the trip to Lincoln knowing maximum points, coupled with a Rotherham defeat at Gillingham, would put Town back in the top three.

The Imps are currently 15th in the table but have won their last five League games on the trot to ease fears of a relegation dogfight.

Turner has been impressed by that sequence of results, but believes his own side have been buoyed by events in the last week which has seen his side bolstered by six new arrivals and victories over Burton and Southend.

“After the Hereford game (a 4-0 win on November 22), things got a bit messy with the freeze and then we didn’t perform as well as we can,” said the Town boss.

“But we had a good win against Burton and I thought we were very solid at Southend on Saturday and there is a shift in mood with the sharpness and determination back.

“Lincoln must be brimming with confidence after the run they have been on and to win five on the trot is even more impressive when you are near the bottom of the table.

“But it’s down to us. We have got enough ability in the side to cause any team problems at this level.”

Town will be forced into at least one change for the trip to Sincil Bank with striker James Collins on international duty with Republic of Ireland under-21s.

On-loan goalkeeper Lee Nicholls – who got the nod ahead of Chris Neal to sit on the substitute’s bench at Southend – is also away with England under-19s.

Striker Matt Harrold, who has scored twice in as many games, sat out training yesterday but is expected to be fit for tonight.

  • Town officials are hoping for a crowd in excess of 5,000 for the England under-20s clash with France tomorrow night. More than 4,200 tickets had been sold by the end of yesterday.
