Shrews v Bury on Sky Sports tonight
Friday 28th January 2011, 1:18PM GMT.
Shrewsbury Town aim to create a big impression on the small screen tonight – with boss Graham Turner insisting the race for League Two honours is wide open.
Town go under the national spotlight this evening with their League Two trip to Bury featured live on Sky Sports.
It’s a big night for Shrewsbury who, despite an indifferent run of form since the return to action after the poor weather, will break into the top three with a victory.
Bury are without a win in six games but will leapfrog Town – and have two games in hand – if they run out winners at Gigg Lane.
And Turner knows that, while leaders Chesterfield have opened up a significant gap at the top, there is still plenty at stake for the chasing pack.
“The thing about this division is that Chesterfield are doing very well but everyone else seems to be winning a couple of games and losing a couple,” said Turner.
“Everyone is capable of beating each other so it is not cut and dry by any means.”
The Town boss is seeking a significant improvement from his side after Tuesday’s disappointing 3-1 defeat at Oxford.
“There has got to be a determination to redeem the performance of Tuesday and the mind-set has to be right,” said the Town boss.
On-loan right back Jermaine Grandison has been ruled out of tonight’s clash with a hamstring injury suffered early in the first half at Oxford.
The two teams have already met at Gigg Lane this season in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, Bury edging through on penalties after a goalless draw.
Meanwhile, Town’s hopes of hosting matches in the 2013 UEFA Under-21 European Championship Finals have been dashed.
The Greenhous Meadow had formed part of the English bid to host the tournament.
But the UEFA Executive Committee have decided that the event will head to Israel.
