Oxford 3 Shrewsbury Town 1
Tuesday 25th January 2011, 9:38PM GMT.
Former players returned to haunt Shrewsbury Town as their three match unbeaten run was ended at Oxford.
Ex-loanee Asa Hall broke the deadlock on 10 minutes when he rifled home from 18 yards.
Shrewsbury were given hope on 25 minutes when Mark Wright’s edge of the box strike was deflected for his 12th goal of the campaign.
But Oxford were the dominat force in the second half and two strikes from Town old boy James Constable left them empty handed.

Ok we were beaten by a better performance on the night, and clinical finishing from Constable was the clear difference.
I sat in my seat in the Oxford stadium thinking is this the same team i saw against Chesterfield and the answer was yes it was but with 3 major changes in play.
1st. Grandison pulled a Hamstring and as his inspiration left the pitch so did our play down the right from defence and Holden simply was not a suitable replacement. Turner said he did OK, well not for our overall play it wasn’t.
2nd. We mad it quite obvious that Wright was going to do all the work down the left and he tried his best but with little or no support at times, often there were four Oxford players around him and not another Shrews player to be seen, tactical insanity.
3rd. Our midfield worked hard to keep possession, but Oxford’s worked harder and had more class about them. Lelie however had made space many times on the right only to be completely ignored by our midfield who seemed determined to play much shorter balls to no avail,
If we’re to get it right from now on all those things need to be corrected first. It’s basic stuff, I’m sure Turner knows it, just make sure he gets players who can apply it.
