Shrewsbury Town v Lincoln City called off
Tuesday 28th December 2010, 1:40PM GMT.
Shrewsbury Town were today left frustrated by the weather yet again – with their npower League Two trip to Lincoln City falling victim to a frozen pitch.
Milder conditions in the last 24 hours have come too late for the Imps, with match referee Carl Boyseson calling the game off after a 9.30am inspection.
A Lincoln statement said: “Despite the improvement in the state of the pitch from yesterday, it remains frozen and was deemed unplayable.”
No new date has yet been set for the game. Town, who have not played since December 11, are due to travel to Burton Albion on New Year’s Day.
Meanwhile, Hereford United’s home game against Northampton Town scheduled for tonight was postponed following a pitch inspection at Edgar Street yesterday.
Although the pitch had been covered, the ground remained frozen underneath.
League Two bottom side Hereford, who have had six matches postponed in the past month, are now scheduled to entertain Torquay United on Saturday – weather permitting.
“We just have to get on with things the best we can in the knowledge that everyone else has been in the same boat,” said manager Jamie Pitman.
