Town beaten by weather

Shrewsbury Town faced Christmas disappointment as their Boxing Day clash with Bury was postponed.

Around 50 supporters turned u last Thursday to help shift snow from the pitch, stands and car park at the Greenhous Meadow.

The playing surface passed a lunchtime inspection on Christmas Eve but two more nights of freezing weather took their toll.

And the game was called off shortly before 9am on Boxing Day, with the pitch starting to freeze the moment the covers were lifted.

Shrewsbury are now set to resume League Two action with a trip to Lincoln City on Bank Holiday Tuesday, though that match is subject to a pitch inspection at Sincil Bank early on Monday morning.
