Shrewsbury Saracens have won the Cricketer Cup for the first time in 25 years with a 111-run victory over Harrow Wanderers at Shenley.

Ali Pollock led the scoring for the Shropshire side with 49, followed by Steve Leach (44) and captain Tom Cox (41) as they finished on 199-8.

And a superb bowling performance from Steve Barnard saw him take five wickets as their opponents were dismissed for 88.

Cox said: “It’s the first time we have won the Cricketer Cup since 1987, so it has been a very long time. We scrapped really hard with the bat and Steve Barnard bowled fantastically. It was a really good day.”
