Six titles were decided at the Hotel Zuiderduin, with Ritchie part of the Scottish side that reached the semi-finals of the team event.

'The Original Flying Scotsman' spent 22 years serving in the Royal Air Force, who stationed him at Cosford to begin his time in Shropshire.

The married father-of-three now works in Wolverhampton, as a fitter tester for UTC Aerospace Systems, and plays county darts for Montgomery & Radnor.

He also competed in the men's pairs and singles competitions, with Holland taking the overall accolade due to their position of top in the points table. Scotland finished fourth.

Ritchie was in Group Four for the singles, where he saw off Latvia's Madars Razma in a last leg success 4-3. He was then defeated 4-2 by Sweden's Oskar Lukasiak.

Ritchie partnered Craig Quinn for the pairs, winning another last leg battle 4-3 in Group One against Gibraltar's George Federico and David Francis.

The score-line would be reversed on them in their next game, though, falling 4-3 to German duo Daniel Zygla and Martin Schindler.

Ritchie and Quinn joined Ross Montgomery and Alan Soutar for the team clashes, where quartets played a leg each against the other four players until the first side reached nine wins.

Scotland topped Group Three and then beat Malta 9-4 in the last 16, before seeing off Poland 9-7 in the quarter-finals. Holland beat them 9-6 in the last four.
