Daryl dazzles in darts exhibition
The 'dazzler' of darts sparkled on a Shropshire oche at a special exhibition.
Darryl Fitton, twice the BDO World Championship, was the guest of honour last night at the Childs Ercall club.
And he saw off all-comers by winning all 16 of his best-of-three-leg matches against some of Shropshire’s leading throwers.
Fitton – whose nickname is Dazzler – defeated talented Newport youngster David Pallett, Shropshire regulars John Breeze and Roger Taylor and Hinstock League secretary Dave Blount.
Challenging Fitton also proved One Step Beyond (he normally takes the stage to the hit song by Madness) for 12 members of the audience who were the winners of a special draw. He came out on top in every challenge.
“It was a cracking night,” said organiser Breeze.
“Darryl performed very well and players like him are on a different level.
“There were a few people who took a leg off him but nobody managed to beat him.”
Meanwhile, Pallett – who plays on the PDC Youth Tour – reached the last 32 of the Winmau World Masters in Hull.
The 22-year-old came through qualifying to reach the televised stages before being beaten by eventual runner-up Tony O’Shea 3-1 in front of the ESPN cameras.
“It was my first time on television and I felt pretty comfortable,” he said.
