AFC Telford boss Rob Edwards sticking with his message

AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards insists his side's approach will not change as they head to Curzon Ashton tonight.

The Bucks go to the Tameside Stadium having lost two of their first three games of the new National League North season.

They beat York City 1-0 before losing 3-1 to Brackley Town last Tuesday and then being defeated 2-0 by Salford City on Saturday.

The Nash have won one, drawn one and lost one.

Edwards said: "We don't rip things up and start again.

"We look to build and continue with what we are trying to do, and that will continue all season long.

"We want to try to get better and it's another opportunity to get three points and get better.

"The messages will always stay the same. It's an opportunity and we are looking forward to that challenge."

Telford struggled to create much going forward against title favourites Salford, who were watched on by former Manchester Untied man and co-owner Gary Neville, on Saturday.

On what improvements he would like to see tonight, Edwards said: "We need to be a little bit more ice-cold in possession.

"It was a bit hundred mile an hour, a bit emotional, on Saturday.

"The lads gave everything but we have to be better with our details – it comes down to fine details."

John Marsden led the line for Telford on Saturday and was their best player, although he prefers to play as a number 10.

Matthew Barnes-Homer was on the bench as he has been struggling a little with a thigh niggle and played the final 10 minutes.

Supporters are urging the boss to add another centre forward to the squad and Edwards added: "I thought John put in an unbelievable shift up there.

"We tried to get down the sides. Of course, it would be great to have someone with exceptional pace or exceptional strength but we haven't got that at the moment.

"With Barnes-Homer struggling slightly, we had to adjust a little bit and play more of a running game. The front three worked so hard.

"We are still looking there. We will always be looking. That's an area we are looking at.

"We are in discussions with one or two. We have got targets but we will see how it goes."
