"As a footballer you dream of moments like this."

Nouha Dicko was blown away by the spine-tingling reception he got from the Wolves fans, after 13 months away.

The 24-year-old, who made his comeback in Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Norwich, was desperate to cap his return with a goal.

It wasn't meant to be, but the striker hopes it won't be long before he's scoring goals for Wolves again after what must have been the toughest year of his career so far.

"It's great that the fans show their appreciation," he said. "I would have liked to pay them back with a goal, but I wasn't far off. Hopefully soon it will come.

"It's really difficult for any footballer to have any injury, whether it's minor or big, so when you're out you're just desperate to come back.

"I've worked hard to come back, and now I am back I'm just happy and everything is going well.

"The lowest moment was after the injury. When you hear, it's really hard for any footballer or sportsman.

"I tried to be positive and it's not the end of the world. It was really hard, those first few weeks and after the operation I was in a lot of pain, but when you see it getting better and better it gives you a lot of hope."

There have been plenty of changes since Dicko was last on the field in August 2015.

Wolves now have a new boss, new owners and plenty of new players.

What has Dicko made of it all? "It's exciting," he said. "Now we have new owners and a new manager – they have showed ambition and now it's a good time to be a Wolves player.

"It was before as well, but now ever more so.

"We have one target, to go to the Premier League. Hopefully we are able to do it. Unfortunately we lose this game but we all know the season is very long. I've played for the Championship for the past few years, we have a lot of opportunities to bounce back including in the next game against Villa."

Walter Zenga revealed that Wolves had pinpointed a November return for Dicko.

The Italian said of Dicko's early comeback: "I spoke to Nouha when I arrived here and said that after he had been out for so long it was important for him to build up week by week and play some games.

"There was a decision that he would come back in November. But then you see a player and he is doing well and working hard. I am pleased for him that he is back and that first chance he had was a fantastic situation…next time!"
