Business as usual as AFC Ludlow's Dave Cooper battles on

AFC Ludlow manager Dave Cooper will be able to press on with pre-season amid fears the Showtime Security Stadium will soon close its doors.

The promoted West Midlands League Division One side's future, after just two years of the new club's existence, has again come under threat.

Owner Matt Davies stated last week his intentions to shut down their ground for good, due to "extortionate" business rates of £1,200 a month.

Cooper will attend a club meeting next week where they will try to devise some form of plan for survival but, on the field, it's business as usual.

Ludlow play their first friendly at FC Stafford on Saturday and have been told they will be able to host Wellington Amateurs and Oakengates Athletic. Those two fixtures, still scheduled for July 26 and August 2 respectively, were arranged to raise funds for Hope House and the Air Ambulance.

Cooper said: "We are meeting on Monday night,.

"I have been promised we can play the two charity games, so nothing seems to be that imminent, and we are away for our first friendly on Saturday.

"Until someone comes up and tells me we won't be playing next season, it's business as usual."
