Two spectacular long-range strikes by Nathan Rooney were not enough to prevent AFC Telford going down 3-2 at Braintree.
Sean Marks gave the hosts the lead after just six minutes, tapping home after Matt Paine’s header had come back off the post.
Luke Daley then doubled Braintree’s lead six minutes after the re-start after Telford had failed to clear Dan Holman’s shot.
Rooney gave the Bucks hope when he scored from 30 yards after 66 minutes.
But Kenny Davis sealed the win for the Essex side with an 80th minute penalty after Phil Trainer had brought down Bradley Dack.
Rooney added a second goal for the visitors, a thumping 25-yard free kick, three minutes into stoppage time but it just came too late to inspire a comeback.
