AFC Telford chief Andy Sinton seeks triple signing
Monday 30th January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton could add up to three new faces ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline – if the funds are made available.
Sinton believes he still needs to strengthen after seeing his side go down 2-0 at Grimsby Town on Saturday.
The Telford chief was supported by coach John Psaras for that one in the absence of assistant manager Darren Read and saw his side battle strongly before conceding two late goals.
And that has convinced him that he could still do with a couple more additions for the Blue Square Bet Premier run-in. “There are two or three I could bring in before tomorrow if I am allowed to,” said Sinton.
“We’re cutting our cloth accordingly, the squad was a little bit too big but there were reasons for that.
“We’re getting to a point now where I think there will be a bit available and I’ll be asking what we can do.
“There won’t be fees paid for anybody, there will just be loans or frees.”
Meanwhile, Sinton has insisted he remains confident his side will stay up if they maintain the standards they set at Blundell Park.
Telford had the better chances in the first half and defended valiantly in the second period until Grimsby finally found a way through on 82 minutes.
“If we play like that week-in-week-out, we’ll be okay,” said Sinton. “We just need to be a little bit better in the final third.
“I don’t think we’ve been outclassed in any game this season but we seem incapable of being able to sustain it for the duration of a game.
“We did so well for 80 minutes on Saturday and then just switched off.”
