Loan star Marlon Jackson keen to stay at AFC Telford
Tuesday 10th January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
Loan sensation Marlon Jackson insists he is open to extending his stay at AFC Telford United after enjoying a dream debut.
The Bristol City forward – who has already had loan spells at League Two sides Cheltenham and Northampton this season – played on the left wing at home to Kettering on Saturday and scored the third goal in a 3-1 win.
“If I’m playing here then I don’t see why I can’t stay longer,” said the 21-year-old.
“It’s a good standard in this league (the Blue Square Bet Premier) – there are a lot of teams who go up to League Two and then go up again or are right up there so it’s a really strong league.
“The manager tried very hard to get me here and after speaking to him I didn’t really have any doubts.
“He wanted to get me before I went to Cheltenham earlier in the season, so it was nice of him to ask me again even though I went somewhere else last time.
“For him to have that much faith in me, I want to prove to him that he’s made the right decision.
“I got man of the match on Saturday and hopefully I can get that in every match I play. I just want to keep scoring goals, keep playing well and – most importantly – help the team win games.”
Meanwhile, boss Andy Sinton has admitted that he would be keen to keep Jackson for longer – but is aware that good performances for the Bucks could alert other clubs.
“They rate him very highly there and one of the stipulations of him coming to us on loan is that he can still train with Bristol City,” Sinton revealed.
“They don’t want him out of their sight for a month, they want to keep an eye on him.
“I’ll be asking the question (about keeping him). A lot depends on what happens because we’ve given Marlon a stage and that can be a danger.”
