AFC Telford 1 Barrow 0

Ten-man AFC Telford United recorded their first league win since the end of September thanks to a controversial goal by Steve Jones.

His header off Richard Davies’s cross struck the far post, with lineswoman Sarah Garrett flagging that the ball had crossed the line – despite loud protests by the Barrow players.

The Bucks had only been down to 10 men for a minute when that happened, Chris Sharp having been sent off for kicking out at Danny Hone off the ball.

Barrow certainly had the best of the first half, hitting the woodwork twice through Danny Hone and a Paul Smith free-kick.

Keeper Ryan Young also had to react well to save from Andy Cook and again from Adam Boyes after a poor backpass by Stuart Whitehead.

Telford managed just two shots of their own, both fairly tame efforts from debutant Elliott Chamberlain, who joined on loan from Leicester City on Thursday afternoon.

The second half was packed with drama and, after the red card and Jones’s dramatic goal, they held on well for a much-needed three points.
