AFC Telford United manager Andy Sinton is preparing to raid Football League clubs in a bid to add much-needed experience to his struggling side.

The Bucks went down 4-0 at Blue Square Bet South side Chelmsford in the FA Cup on Saturday, their sixth defeat in their last eight outings.

With Adam Proudlock (broken ankle) and Dwayne Samuels (broken toe) both sidelined, Sinton is now looking to exploit the loan market with a couple of experienced signings.

“I’m not targeting people from lower down to step up, I’m targeting people from higher who can come in and make an impact, people who will step up to the plate straight away,” said Sinton.

“I want someone that people can look up to, who can be an example to the others.

“We could do with a couple of experienced leaders in the squad as we haven’t got enough of that – we’ve got a terrific dressing room but maybe we’re too nice a team.”

Sinton brought the majority of his squad – those without other work commitments – in for a daytime training session yesterday.

And he insists their mauling at the hands of Chelmsford must be used as a motivation to improve over the weeks ahead.

“Saturday might be a real blessing in disguise, as strange as that sounds,” he said.

“If we’d gone there and won it might have papered over the cracks that I knew were there.”

s Club captain Shane Killock and left-back Sean Newton are hoping to earn international honours tonight.

The duo are both in the 18-man England C squad that has travelled to Gibraltar for a friendly with the Islanders.
