AFC Telford United spirits high, says Sinton

Boss Andy Sinton today insisted spirits remain high in the AFC Telford United camp – despite the dip in league fortunes.

The Bucks have slumped into the bottom five of the Blue Square Premier after a run of seven matches without a victory.

This weekend’s FA Cup first round trip to Chelmsford offers a welcome respite from the pressures of arresting the league slide.

And Sinton – who remains on the look-out for fresh blood to strength his squad – said: “The lads are in good spirits. They are absolutely fine and have trained well on Monday and Tuesday.

“We know we need to turn these close games into wins.

“All you can do is keep working hard and that’s what we are doing.”

The Bucks boss has played down suggestions that the Cup tie has arrived at the right time for Telford.

“It didn’t matter what game we had this weekend, we would have treated it the same whether it be league, FA Cup or FA Trophy,” he added.

Chelsmford warmed up for Saturday’s big first round clash with a goalless home draw with Dorchester on Monday to lie sixth in the Blue Square South table.

Sinton believes midfield wideman Dwayne Samuels will be out of action for around four weeks with the broken toe which ruled him out of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Darlington.
