Sinton warns AFC Telford United of tough tie ahead
Monday 31st October 2011, 11:29AM GMT.
Manager Andy Sinton today braced AFC Telford United for a testing FA Cup second round clash – whoever their opponents may be.
The 5-0 victory over Gainsborough in yesterday’s first round proper gave the Bucks a trip to lower league opposition with either Blue Square South side Chelmsford or Gloucester City, of Blue Square North, providing the opponents on Saturday week.
Those two sides replay at Gloucester tomorrow night – a game which will be watched by Telford staff – after Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
And, while a pairing with a League One big gun proved elusive, the Telford chief was satisfied with the draw.
“You can never control it so you take what you are given,” said Sinton.
“They are two good sides – Chelmsford have been doing well in Blue Square South over the last three years and we played Gloucester twice last season and they have improved.
“All the sides will think it’s a chance to progress but we know we will have to be at our very best, whoever we play.”
Sinton was delighted with Saturday’s 5-0 triumph over Gainsborough which, not only earned the Bucks a passage through to the first round but also banked them £12,500 in prize money.
“I’m delighted and I thought we were excellent,” he added.
“It’s great to win five but what pleased me more than anything is the clean sheet because our back four have been defending well.
“We haven’t kept one for a while.
“We asked Ryan (Young, goalkeeper) to be a bit more confident and come for a couple more crosses and he did that – when he does that he’s as good as anyone.

I think you will find the 5-0 win was in the 4th Qualifying round and Telford are now in the first round proper.
They are not, as the report says, into the second round.
