Big shout out to AFC Telford fans

Boss Andy Sinton is calling on the AFC Telford United fans to generate a positive atmosphere tomorrow – with a season-high crowd in the offing.

A special Dawley Day promotion means that at least 2,500 fans are expected for the big showdown with Blue Square Bet Premier high-fliers Gateshead – and the 2,640 that saw the 2-0 defeat at home to Luton last month could be eclipsed.

But Sinton is keen to spread the message that the Bucks need those fans behind them as they look to end a run of five games without a win.

“I would urge them to really get behind the boys,” said Sinton.

“It’s very easy for anyone to support a team when things are going well and you are on an unbeaten run of 15 or16 games and going for promotion.

“But sometimes you need support more when things aren’t going quite as you would like them to go.

“Yes, we put in a poor performance last Saturday (losing 2-0 to Ebbsfleet) but I think we rectified that on Tuesday (in a 2-1 defeat at Forest Green),” he added.

“We didn’t get the result we wanted but we certainly got a reaction and I think we will be okay.”

Sinton is relishing the challenge of facing Ian Bogie’s Gateshead and is not intimidated by their status as one of the front-runners.

“They are a good side and have a lot of pace, but if we put on a performance I’m confident we can get something out of it,” he said.

“Southport showed on Tuesday that Gateshead are not invincible because they turned a two-goal deficit into a 3-2 victory.”

Leading scorer Chris Sharp is back in the frame, having shaken off the jarred ankle injury that forced him to miss Tuesday’s defeat

And striker Spencer Weir-Daley is expected to come into contention for a place after training last night.

The Dawley lot will probably get behind Telford more than the die-hards who moan and groan every home game.

laweley ladder… as a so called die hard who moans, as per usual will be paying again to get. So as im paying, if i wish to moan i shall do. Yet again its another fake crowd due to free ticket hand outs.
Why bother having season ticket holders

As a season ticket holder, i am also getting fed up of the moaning die hards behind the goal. I’m contemplating ear plugs as its just absolute rubbish thats being uttered at times.

Oh and as for free tickets, yes I was given them at the phoenix school around 12 years ago and have been a paying fan going to watch Telford ever since. So it does work!

Wellington buck, my husband is a season ticket holder, and will be at the game with his nephew. I will be there with a disabled gentleman that I support, and yes he will have a free ticket. He would not otherwise have the oppertunity to attend a game.

Ads, I agree with the moaning, I am also fed up with choice comments directed at the players and officials that has nothing to do with how they play, but how they look or their sex, it would be nice to go a game and not feel upset when I leave.

Wellington Buck, I have a season ticket and I have no objection to the free tickets being handed out, it’s all about building links with the community and encouraging the next generation of fans. If just a handful become the next generation of die-hards and the first thought on many schools minds when they want some sort of help with coaching is to approach their local club, then they club have acomplished something.

Secondly many of the groups attending due to their circumstances are not in a position to get to games and would not be able to do so without the clubs generosity, if they have a good day out and it lives long in their memory in that “I had a fantastic day out at The New Bucks Head” then again the club have acomplished something positive. Do you begrudge those individuals that, if you do I sincerely hope I do not end up standing or sitting next to you.

Moaning about free tickets that bring in new fans and extra revenue through food and drink? typical…

There might be some moaners behind the goal but thats where the loyal fans that are cheering our team on are every game voicing their support… UTB
