We fell victim to it against Fleetwood and now it has returned to haunt us against Forest Green.

We actually played well last night until an own goal meant that we were leaving the New Lawn with nothing.

But even though we lost, there were positives to take from this game.

Telford worked hard to gain the equaliser, which will hopefully give Adam Proudlock some much-needed confidence to find his scoring form again.

Also, our midfield connected well with the defence and the strikers, providing some good through balls to Proudlock and Farrell.

We looked a different side to the Ebbsfleet game, mainly due to the fact that we showed a bit more creativity with the ball and looked good going forward. That was the most reassuring point to take from last night.

Forest Green are a much improved side this year, in comparison to when we played them last in the Setanta Shield. They had pace, passed the ball well and looked sharp going forward. But we could’ve beaten them had we had more confidence in ourselves to provide the lethal touch.

The first half was a mixed affair, both sides having their chances but not really showing anything threatening. Their goal came from a cross where Charlie Griffin had the time to bobble the ball past three players into the back of the net. In contrast to the Ebbsfleet game though, the Bucks tried to get back into the game. Proudlock and Farrell made some good runs on to through balls only for them to be quelled by the Forest Green defence.

The second half was much improved, we started to dominate and show a bit more confidence on the ball. Our goal came from a good spell, Mills crossing the ball in for Proudlock to deflect the ball underneath the crossbar. As soon as we scored though, we sat back and let Forest Green come on to us. Our confidence started to disappear as Forest Green kept attacking. I feel if we did show a little belief in ourselves, then we wouldn’t have conceded so late on.

We have hit a dip in form, but we will start doing better. Andy Sinton is doing a great job and has given us a great start. His motivational skills are proven, demonstrated over the course of last season. I have great belief in him to turn this dip in form around and get us back up to mid-table again.

We know we have the potential to win games and play well, Telford showed that at the beginning of the season.

I’m pleased that we aren’t in a relegation dogfight at the moment, but if the lads don’t start believing in themselves, it will be a tough winter period.

All we can do, as fans, is get behind Andy and the team and show some belief.
