Andy Sinton signs new AFC Telford contract

Manager Andy Sinton today signalled his commitment to AFC Telford United – by penning a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2014.

Sinton’s current deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but chairman Lee Carter had long-singled his desire to see that extended.

And, ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Barrow in the Blue Square Bet Premier, he sees the successful conclusion to talks as another sign that the club is in better shape than ever.

“Andy is someone we want to build this club around – he’s done a fantastic job when you think about where we were when he arrived and where we are now,” said Carter.

“We first decided to approach him towards the end of last season at what was possibly the busiest time ever in the history of the club.

“This got pushed to the bottom of the pile while we were working on other things but it’s all signed and sealed now and we are delighted.”

Sinton revealed that he had considered his options carefully before committing himself to an extra two seasons at the New Bucks Head.

“It was important I got it right,” he said. “I wanted to see where the club would be heading in the next few years and I’ve been really impressed with Lee and all the staff.

“I want to manage in the League and the next challenge is to get Telford ready to compete for that,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sinton takes a squad with no fresh injury worries up to Holker Street tomorrow but striker Andy Brown remains a big doubt.
