ROB HUGHES: Three games in a week, and although we have remained unbeaten, extending our sequence to five unbeaten I can’t help but think substitutions have cost us four extra points.

Last week, we seemed to be pretty much on top, causing Fleetwood problems, only to make the change immediately after the second goalwhich invited them on to us.

On Saturday we were struggling to keep the ball with the front pairing of Adam Proudlock and Chris Sharp, so with 20 minutes left why not give Spencer Weir-Daley a go?

His nippy nature could have asked Hayes & Yeading some questions, running on to the clever link play and flick-ons from Chris Sharp. As it was, his introduction seemed nothing more than a reaction to conceding, by which time it was too late to expect an impact.

Other questions to come out of the weekend events would have to be why so many changes were made to a winning side? I understand we are part-time, but I don’t think we needed to make three changes to the team that beat Alfreton in midweek.

Will Salmon at right-back, can feel hard done by. His on-field relationship with Adams, particularly going forward was missing against Hayes – not that Ryan Valentine did a lot wrong, but I would rather have him in his natural left full-back position.

Richard Davies popped up with another excellent goal to finish a half which we started quite lethargically. We seemed to be caught ball watching a bit, not to mention the fact we allowed oppositon players something of a free run on goal on a couple of ocassions. If it wasn’t for some woeful finishing then we could have ended up two down before ‘Digger’ got our noses in front.

I still believe we have nothing to fear, as I heard mentioned several times at the game and we are still on a steep learning curve.

We just need to back our players and pick as settled a side as we can, football is all about partnerships, chopping and changing things all the time might keep the opposition guessing, but training two or three times a week – to an extent it means we ourselves are guessing.

And that can’t be good!

Thirteenth position – it’s not that bad! C’mon the Bucks, we can still push on higher – and I’ll be there, every step of the way!
