Bucks tribute to Steve Palmer
Saturday 1st October 2011, 11:29AM BST.
A benefit match for AFC Telford United legend Steve Palmer will be staged tomorrow after the popular midfielder suffered a potentially career-ending injury.
A game will be played at West Midlands League premier division outfit AFC Wulfrunians, who Palmer was playing for when he broke his collarbone at the start of the season.
Several of Palmer’s former Telford team-mates – including Kevin Davies, Kevin Sandwith, Gary Fitzpatrick and Asa Charlton – will line up with AFC Wulfrunians players in a game against the Bucks supporters team at the Wulfs home ground in Castlecroft, Wolverhampton (3pm).
“The supporters of Telford have been fantastic and I’m really grateful for their support,” said Palmer, a member of the Bucks legends’ hall of fame and who played for the old Telford United.
