Big names may have to wait, says AFC Telford’s Andy Sinton
Thursday 29th September 2011, 11:40AM BST.
Boss Andy Sinton today hailed his improving AFC Telford United side – and warned that some of his biggest names may have to wait for their chance.
The likes of former Wolves striker Adam Proudlock and exciting winger Greg Mills have had to settle for a place on the bench of late, Sinton having named an unchanged team for the last three games.
And with the Bucks picking up eight points from their last four outings, the Telford boss admits he sees no reason for a shake-up at this stage.
“I would probably say that the team we are currently putting out does not look our best team on paper, in terms of names and whatever,” he said.
“But it’s working, and that is all that matters – I’m not worried about reputations or things like that.
“Credit to all the lads and we’re on a little roll but my mind is only focussed on Hayes & Yeading on Saturday now so we have to go out and do it again,”
Meanwhile, Sinton has backed new signing Chris Sharp to continue the stunning start to his Telford career, labelling the hotshot as a natural finisher.
Sharp has joined from Oswestry-based The New Saints for an undisclosed fee which is believed to have eclipsed the previous club record of £5,000 – and he has already paid a chunk of that back with three goals in four games.
“The boy’s a finisher,” said Sinton.
“If you can score goals in the Welsh Premier you can certainly score goals in the Conference.
“He’s a good kid, he wants to work hard.
“He’s just given me three goals in four games – I’ll take that.”
