Determined boss Andy Sinton has vowed to replace “quantity with quality” after hailing AFC Telford United’s solid start to the Blue Square Bet Premier campaign.

The Bucks made it 12 points from their first 10 games by holding in-form Mansfield Town to a 1-1 draw at Field Mill last night.

And while that tally has pleased the Telford chief, he believes now is the right time to assess what changes may be needed to push on.

“It’s only after 10 games that I think the league table really starts to take shape, and we are stuck in the middle of the pack – which is pretty much what I was looking for,” said Sinton.

“I said I would assess my squad after 10 games and decide who could stop on the bus and who would get dropped off at the next stop.

“We loaded the squad with quantity and quality in the summer, but maybe I have got to chop that down now and get more quality and less quantity.

“Without giving any names away, there will be people going out of the club.”

New signing Chris Sharp scored the 86th minute equaliser last night, netting his second goal in consecutive games to rescue a deserved point against a Mansfield side who had won five in a row.

The result saw the newly-promoted Bucks drop two places to 17th in the table, but Sinton is encouraged by their performances to-date.

“I don’t think we’ve entirely got the credit we deserve so far,” he said.

“I’m myself and my team’s biggest critic but I also give us a lot of positives.

“We’ve got a never-say-die attitude in our changing room and that shone through again last night,” he added.

“Credit to the boys because they kept going and it was a great finish for our goal – Chris Sharp did what we brought him into the club to do.”
