Winger Greg Mills has finally ended his summer of uncertainty by signing for AFC Telford United on a one-year deal.

The 20-year-old wideman was a big part of Telford’s promotion-winning team last term during two loan spells from Derby County.

But, after his release by the Championship outfit, he tried to attract interest from full-time clubs and has had to convince Bucks boss Andy Sinton of his fitness in order to earn a deal at the New Bucks Head.

“I’m delighted to have him back and his biggest test now will be to get himself into a position where he can get into the team,” said Sinton.

“He’s signed a one-year contract with an option for another year but it’s incentive-based and he has to get himself fit.

“To be fair to Greg, he’s worked really hard since he came back to us and has got the bit between his teeth.”

Mills is unlikely to be involved in Telford’s first game in the Blue Square Bet Premier away at Cambridge United tomorrow evening, having suffered a minor injury in training on Saturday.

“He picked up a little bit of a knock on his shin,” Sinton revealed.

“He’s gone to Lilleshall (National Sports Centre) today though, and he’ll be there for three or four days doing extensive work.

“Come the weekend, he should be a lot further forward.”

Sinton will bring his full squad in for a light training session tonight as they finalise preparations for the trip to Cambridge. High on the agenda will be an assessment of star striker Adam Proudlock, who has been struggling with a groin injury.

“He wasn’t quite 100 per cent on Saturday so we will assess him tonight with a view to tomorrow’s game,” said Sinton.
