Craig Farrell is latest AFC Telford signing

AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton today unveiled experienced striker Craig Farrell as his fourth summer signing.

The 6ft hitman is set to pen a one-year deal with the Bucks, with an option for another year, having left crisis club Rushden & Diamonds.

Farrell, 28, formally played for Carlisle United, Exeter City, York and Oxford before joining Rushden – who were thrown out of the Conference earlier this month – in June 2009.

“We’re delighted because Craig was well up on our hit list,” said Sinton.

“He has vast experience. He’s not a 25 or 30 goals a season man but he will chip in with 12 or 15 and he’s a very good foil.

“He’s a very clever footballer, he’s creative and he’s mobile. He’ll complement the firepower we’ve got.”

Sinton revealed that Farrell had turned down three better financial offers to join the Bucks – including two from rivals in the Conference Premier.

The Middlesbrough-born forward, a close friend of Telford skipper Shane Killock, verbally agreed to the move more than a week ago and should complete the paperwork at training tomorrow after returning from a holiday in Turkey.

“Shane’s done a good PR job for us,” added the Bucks boss.

“Craig had a frustrating time last season because he got injured early on and then couldn’t get back in.

“But he’s coming into the prime of his career and he’s got a lot of football in him.”

Meanwhile, Sinton is aiming to complete further deals in the week ahead – with talks under way with one experienced defender and one young centre-back.
