Boss Andy Sinton today issued a warning to any clubs hoping to raid AFC Telford United’s promotion-winning squad, insisting: “You’ll need to make some staggering bids.”

Sinton is meeting with his players tonight as he begins the planning for the club’s debut in the Blue Square Bet Premier next season.

And the Bucks boss — who says he is also ready to discuss extending his own contract — insists he is eager to retain the nucleus of his side.

“All the ones who have played a major part in getting us up are either contracted for next season or I’ve got an option which I will take up,” he said.

“If anyone wants any of my players it’s going to cost them money.

“If we get any offers then my advice to the club would be that unless it’s a staggering amount of money they should say no.

“I’ve spent almost 12 months working with these players to get here and I’d like to carry on working with them.

“I’m having a meeting with them tonight because some of them are going on holiday.

“There won’t be wholesale changes but there will be one or two who fall by the wayside.”

Sinton signed a two-year contract when he was appointed as successor to Rob Smith last summer and has delivered promotion at the first attempt.

Impressed chairman Lee Carter first made an approach to extend that deal back in March — and Sinton has indicated he is now ready to sit down and talk.

“I have always said I am very keen to extend it but I wanted to concentrate on the football first and it hasn’t been mentioned since it was first brought up,” said Sinton.

“But now we’ve got promoted I’d be happy to sit down with the club and hopefully come to an agreement to extend the contract.”
