Chairman Lee Carter has urged AFC Telford United fans to arrive early for Sunday’s play-off final with Guiseley, admitting: “There may be people locked out.”

The Bucks host the Yorkshire side (3pm) in a crunch clash with a place in the top tier of non-League football next season at stake.

The away side have asked for an allocation of just 250 spaces but Carter revealed that the capacity had been set at 5,622 – and he expects that figure to be reached.

“The interest is unbelievable,” he said. “We’ve already got a record number of people for a Telford game in corporate hospitality and we’ve had to put the sold out signs up for that.

“If that pans out across the rest of the stadium then I really think we could be locking people out.

“We’ve got an operational capacity of 5,622,” he added. “That’s the maximum amount of people we can let in because of segregation arrangements.”

Maturity

Meanwhile, skipper Shane Killock insists the pressure of leading the side into such a big game is not weighing heavy on his shoulders.

The 22-year-old, who is based near Huddersfield, has shown great maturity this season and is now rated as one of the best defenders in non-League football.

He is relishing Sunday’s task and has been boosted by the support of the Bucks fans as well as his own family and friends.

“I’m quite a down-to-earth person and I don’t let too much bother me,” he said. “I live quite a way away so it’s easy for me to go away and escape from it all, whereas there’s quite a lot of chat about it around here.

“But there’s a few decent teams in the Conference so if we could get up there it would be amazing.

“I’ve got my family and girlfriend coming down and my friends are having a little lads’ road trip,” he added. “I’ve got a good 20 people coming down and I think most of the lads will.”
