Guiseley call for a strong ref for play-off final

Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick today called for a referee “strong enough to handle” the pressure-cooker atmosphere of Sunday’s play-off final at AFC Telford United.

A capacity crowd of almost 5,700 has been forecast for the big clash, as Telford face Kittrick’s side for a place in the top tier of non-League football.

And the Guiseley chief — who believes the game should be played at a neutral venue — fears a partisan Bucks crowd could swing the man in the middle.

“It’s the biggest game in our history and the only concern I’ve got is that they put a referee in charge who is strong enough to handle it,” said Kittrick.

“The majority of the crowd will be Telford supporters and it’s a big occasion for the referee as well as the players — it needs to be someone who will not be swayed.”

Ok, as long as the ref doesn’t try to proofs a point by being bias towered guiseley too. A nice flowing game is needed.

Are there any strong referees in the conference ? I’ve yet to see one !
As for playing at a neutral ground, well he must have known it would be played at the team who finished highest in the league, at least he has all weekend to travel to Telford unlike the Bucks 2 year’s ago when players and fans had too take time off work to travel all the way to Gateshead for a Friday night KO.
The guy is attempting mind games, sorry pal it won’t work. By the way HOW MUCH IS HIS PLAYING BUDGET ? We can only dream of spending what he as had made available to him yet we still finished above them in the league.

Lets face it with a max of 250 Guiseley supporters it wouldn’t matter where it’s held. It would still feel like a Telford home game!
