Chairman Lee Carter has called on AFC Telford United’s “amazing” fans to reproduce their roof-raising performance at Nuneaton for the play-off second leg on Sunday.

Close to 1,000 away fans were in full voice for the semi-final first leg clash on Tuesday evening, a game which saw Phil Trainer score a 93rd minute equaliser for the visitors.

Now Carter – who is expecting a crowd of between 3,500 and 4,000 for the Sunday lunchtime second leg – wants more of the same at the New Bucks Head.

“We need to re-create the atmosphere we had on Tuesday night,” said Carter.

“I’ve known some pretty good atmospheres with this club over the last seven years but that went straight to No 1 in my list.

“It was amazing and if we can re-create that in our own ground then it would be a massive help.”

Carter watched the first leg with the fans in the away end alongside newly-appointed commercial manager Paul Riley.

And he added: “I’m not really into my champagne and canapés.

“Give me a Newcastle Brown Ale and a pack of pork scratchings any day.

“I’m more comfortable on the terraces, I want to go to an area where I can fully support my team so I enjoyed it.”

Meanwhile, Carter has confirmed that reserve keeper Dan East, who is on loan from Wolves, is available for the play-offs — even though his name was inadvertently omitted from the team-sheet distributed to officials and media on Tuesday.

But Hereford loanee Sam Gwynne has now returned to Edgar Street after completing his own loan spell.

“Dan East is definitely eligible and was on the bench on Tuesday,” said Carter.

“Sam Gwynne now drops out because his loan has finished.

“We signed him after the League transfer window closed and that meant we could only have him for a maximum of 93 days. That time has now elapsed.”
