Boss Andy Sinton is mulling over whether to throw fit-again striker Adam Proudlock back into the promotion fray at Hinckley United on Saturday.

Newport-based Proudlock, 29, has spent the last week-and-a-half undergoing intensive treatment and training at the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall, in a bid to recover from a hamstring injury.

And fellow forward Alex Meechan, 31, could also come into contention for the trip to Leicestershire, having returned to training after recovering from a torn calf muscle.

“Adam has been at Lilleshall all this week and all last week,” Sinton confirmed.

“I asked the club to get him in there for round-the-clock rehab and help his fitness levels and it’s handy because he lives right on the doorstop.

“I’ve spoken to the guys there and they say he’s been working really hard.

“He and Alex could both be in contention for the weekend, though I will have to weigh up what the risk factors are and whether they need one more week to be ready.

“It would be a big boost if they were available because both have done well for us this season.”

Meanwhile, Sinton insists the players have put the disappointment of last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Boston behind them as they look to get back on track in the Blue Square Bet North promotion race.

That result followed on from a 3-0 defeat a week earlier away to an Eastwood side who have now been told their ground makes them ineligible to take part in the play-offs.

Sinton said: “There’s been an excellent mood in training this week, it’s been positive and bright. We had a short chat to say that we had to stay positive and put Saturday behind us.

“We have four games left and the aim is to win all four and see where that takes us.”
