Gareth Jelleyman’s starring role in Boston v AFC Telford

Boston player-coach Lee Canoville has pledged to attack AFC Telford United tomorrow – with former Buck Gareth Jelleyman set for a starring role.

Canoville is sharing coaching duties at York Street with Jason Lee following the acrimonious departures of Rob Scott and Paul Hurst to Grimsby Town.

And the ex-Shrewsbury loanee is eager to implement an attacking strategy, with he and fellow full-back Jelleyman – who had a short spell with Telford in 2009 – at the heart of it.

“It’s coming up to the end of the season and if we want to finish as high as we can we’ve got to attack teams,” he said.

“Jells and myself both come from clubs that have always encouraged us to get forward, and we enjoy doing that.

“But defenders also pride themselves on clean sheets, so we’ve got to be sensible as well.”

Meanwhile, former Nottingham Forest forward Lee insists he has no fears about bringing his Boston side to the New Bucks Head.

Boston are eager to avenge a defeat on their own patch back in February, Andy Brown’s goal settling the contest in Telford’s favour.

Lee was not involved that day but is relishing the clash between two of the sides vying for promotion via the play-offs.

And he is confident the Pilgrims can make more forward progress in Shropshire, declaring: “I’ve got no fears about them.

“I know we’ve got a young side full of desire and determination and we will go there all wanting to do well. I just look forward to every game we play.”

Boston have strengthened ahead of the game by recruiting former striker Lawrie Dudfield, the 30-year-old coming out of retirement after almost two years away from the game.

l The Lincolnshire side are expected to bring a large travelling support to Telford, with Bucks officials opting to segregate the two sets of supporters.

Interest in the game is running high in Boston, with the supporters club laying on a second coach for fans to make the journey.
