Signings ‘not vital’ for AFC Telford United
Saturday 26th March 2011, 11:29AM GMT.
Boss Andy Sinton insists his AFC Telford United squad is good enough to win promotion – even if he fails to strengthen.
The non-League transfer deadline is looming large on Thursday and the Bucks chief is keen to bring in a couple more new faces.
But with centre-back Liam Murray and forward James Lawrie both back from injury, and international clearance finally having come through for new recruit Danny Williams, he believes he has enough talent at his disposal.
“We had a couple of people in for training on Thursday and we’ll look at them again,” Sinton revealed.
“But the squad is suddenly up to 20 or 21 again and that’s what I’ve had all season.
“We’ve got to be better in a couple of areas but even if you were managing in the Premier League you’d still be saying that.
“On the whole, I can’t praise the lads enough and now they have to keep it going.”
Sinton has also urged his players to play with freedom over the nine-game run-in, which began with the visit of Stalybridge Celtic this afternoon.
“We’re at the stage of the season where the pressure’s on and I remember Alex Ferguson used to say that people can become afraid to make mistakes,” he said.
“We have got to keep the energy levels up and be positive.”
