AFC Telford United chief Andy Sinton today swooped to sign Wolves keeper Daniel East as cover for Ryan Young – after losing regular understudy Daniel Platt to Nantwich.

East has signed on loan to the end of the season and will be on the bench for tomorrow’s Blue Square Bet North clash at home to Stalybridge Celtic.

Sinton moved quickly to bring in the Wolves teenager after Platt was lured to Jimmy Quinn’s Nantwich by the promise of first team football in the Evo-Stik League premier division.

“Daniel Platt has been non-contract all season and you run the risk that you will lose players in that situation,” said Sinton.

“I think he has made the wrong decision but I have no problem with him and he has done great in the role we brought him in for.

“Daniel East is a little more inexperienced than Aaron McCarey (who Telford had on loan from Wolves last month) but he comes highly recommended and will keep Young on his toes. Wolves see this as being part of his learning curve.”

Sinton is also taking a close look at Australian goalkeeper Matt Nemes, who played for Blacktown City Demons in the New South Wales Premier League and joined Trafford of the Evo-Stik League first division north after coming to the UK last month.

“Matt trained with us last night and looked good,” said the Bucks boss. “We may dual register him (making him eligible to play for both Trafford or Telford) and continue to look at him.”

Meanwhile, Sinton was expecting to receive international clearance later today for former Hereford man Danny Williams, who has joined from Belgian side RRFC Montegnée.

“He has impressed in training and looks like he’ll be a useful addition,” said Sinton. “But he’s coming into a side that’s going well so he’s no automatic right to a place.”

Striker Steve Abbott is also back , having returned from a month on loan at Chasetown.
